Have you ever felt like you really want something, but you just don’t know how to get the motivation to see it through? or maybe you had the motivation at first, but now it just feels like a struggle to keep the momentum going. We all have been there!
Of course, as an entrepreneur talking to another entrepreneur, that “something” I am referring to is your business (but the tip below can easily be applied to any “something” you are pursuing).
Here are 5 tips for getting your motivation back in business:
Tip #1: Get clear on your vision.
When you have a strong and clear vision for your business, it’s much easier to stay motivated. Take some time to sit down and write out what you want your business to look like in the future. What are your goals? What do you see yourself doing? When you have a solid vision, it will be easier to make decisions that support that vision.

Tip #3: Reflect on your situation
Take some time to consider your position as honestly and thoroughly as you can. Encourage yourself to be honest. It’s OK, and even wise, to recognize when you’ve reached your limits. This may help you evaluate what you’ve learned about yourself by allowing you to reconsider whether or not the business path is for you. If you decided to start your own business, it’s possible that you have discovered that it isn’t for you, and that is ok!
Tip #4: Redirect
It’s now time to reconsider your position. Do you still wish to continue pursuing your business? If you do, is there a feasible action for improving your view or feeling toward the process? Maybe once you reflect on your situation, you find out that you do love the idea of having your own business, but it just needs a little tweaking to make it enjoyable again.
You are stronger than you think you are. But if you’re anything like me, you might need help in some areas of your business in order to enjoy the process of growing. Sometimes the lack of motivation comes from being overwhelmed. Having too many things to do on your plate can take the joy out of things you really truly want. Try freeing up some of the tasks you do not enjoy or are not good at, so you can focus on the part of the business that inspired you to open the business in the first place. I am sure this step will help!
Now, if you decide that running your own company is not for you, think about what you have learned from this experience. Then, after considering everything you’ve learned, focus your efforts on whatever you desire to accomplish next.
Tip #5: Move forward
Whatever you decide, be sure to move forward. Whether is tweaking some aspect of your business or pursuing a new desire, just do not stay still and do not stop searching for what makes you happy.
Remember that you couldn’t have known how well-suited you were to operate your business until you tried it. This is true for everything in life; you won’t know until you try. Therefore, don’t give up on your pursuit because you are afraid of failing.
Now, if you feel one of the tweaks you need to do in order to enjoy the process of growing your business is to break up with your accounting and compliance, then you are in the right place because these are the things I do very well… Numbers and regulations make my heart tickle!
